Lakeside Pick 'n Pay - litter & water wastage

<p>Since the Pick 'n Pay has opened in Lakeside, the parking area (and loading bay) is constantly filthy with litter. Over time, several residents in Lakeside have spoken to different managers at the store, but to no avail. When I tried to speak to a manager the day after Christmas (I think his name was Simpiwe), I was first told that is not their responsibility to keep the area clean. Oh really? Then he also told me that he only has one cleaning lady on duty. I happened to walk past that cleaning lady twice that day. She works like a sloth. If she worked properly, she could easily take 10 - 15 minutes a day to pick up the litter. But she stands around a lot, talking to the staff / security guards and moves like she has a hundred pound weight on her back. I also observed her washing the bins last week. For several minutes she had the hose pipe trained on the brick paving in the loading area, wasting I don't know how many litres of water. Then she wasted more water washing the bins. Why doesn't Pick 'n Pay employ Kleenbin, who clean the bins with a waterless system using chemicals? They clean the bin at my house and my bin is perfectly clean. And they are not expensive. Given the WATER CRISIS we are experiencing, I was disgusted when I saw this corporate wastage. I wanted to phone their head office but conveniently they don't seem to have the head office number on their website. I did try lodging a complaint via email on their website. But all I received was an automated reply from someone called Liezel du Preez, stating she is on leave and I must contact Olfa Solomon. I emailed Olfa and needless to say I still have not received any reply. Pick 'n Pay supposedly care about the environment, well not here in Lakeside they dont. Why can't they do the basics and keep their area clean and not waste water?</p>
