Koeksister stuck in my throat
How absolutely disappointing it is when a national retailer let's you down...throwing out false narratives like "55 years of shopping excellence" This has been my ****py experience with Pieter out at Pick 'n Pay Brackenfell Family Store this morning. I went in to purchase some rice and thought it would a noce treat for my team if we have a doughnut with our coffee this morning...I noticed the koeksisters at the bakery and immediately thought it to be better than the usual doughnut, so I asked for a dozen. When I bit into the first one, it was dry, no glazing was evident...in fact the outside that I could see below the coconut resembled shrivelled old skin...I called the store 4 times, no answer...I called the PnP customer number...I was then told to return to the store...I couldn't as I was at work already and asked whether it could be replaced...call centre made contact with the store to call me...here's the interesting part...Pieter the store manager or owner I presume as it's a family store...says he will not come to me to replace it as he is also at work, alone, and their vehicle is in for repairs...I really didn't appreciate the tone of voice advising me that they always bake them fresh everyday...I may not dispute that but I sure as hell can vouch that they aren't always sold fresh as I experienced today...so here I sit agitated by all of this because some franchisee decides that he is his own baas and niemand gaan vir hom se hoe om sy dag the spandeer...nie eens 'n klient van wat hom ondersteun...it's so lame in the South African context that we have to fight for customer service...I would really like Pieter to open his till and smell to see whether my hard earned money I spent at his store is old...this trade off left me feeling ashamed that at a time when media reports are lit with struggles by PnP in the retail space, that I store manager adopts such an attitude with a customer...absolutely putrid and I am filled with disgust and disappointed that my money was wasted...I hope this can be resolved amicably because my attempts with Pieter did not work...he is too arrogant
