I've been ****** by Pick n Pay and RCS.

On Friday the 13th of October 2023. I called into the RCS customer service line to request a settlement amount for my Pick n Pay credit card. I received the email and made the payment immediately.

I called in the next day to enquire if the payment had been received and was advised it had not wait 3 business days. When I called a week later I was then advised that the payment was received an request to have the account closed ( as per my request was ) had begun but has not gone through due to the fact that I had made a +R200 over payment.

They told me the refund email address over the phone and I had asked advised that I would not be able to access my account nor would I incur any charges as the account was paid up to date and the process of having the account closed down had begun.

I forgot all about it and then called back up a few days ago to rerequest the email address to request for the refund. (Which they could've just refunded the account the overpayment which the payment was made from ).

The response I received was that there wasn't a refund available anymore as there about charges R70 a month for each month the account remained active.

(Bare in mind I kept receiving monthly statements but was nolonger able to access them using my account number or ID and I attributed that to the fact that the account had been paused due to the fact that there was an over payment and pending request for the account to be closed).

Due to the fact that I had made an "over-payment " based on the figure that was supp**** to me upon request of the settlement amount, I was advised that I would not be incurring any more charges until the refund was made to me and then only would the account be closed.

I was NEVER advised that I would be incurring monthly charges and that I had a cut off time to request for the refund and failure to do so I would be incurring monthly charges of R70 a month.

I would like to be refunded the R200+ overpayment amount I had made.

I feel duped.
