im stuck now....flightsite

Please can you tell me why it takes two months(8 weeks) for my flight tickets to be refunded.I booked flight tickets through flightsite.co.za for 3 tickets to Amsterdam for the 29th of November 2017,that night we had to cancel as we could not make the flight.I immediately contacted flightsite.co.za to cancel the flights.I spoke to Miriam at the call centre and she cancelled the tickets,she then explained that it will take 8 weeks to refund the money and costs will be involved.She called me back a few minutes later to confirm it if it was for all 3 passengers.I said yes it was and the call ended.Why is it that it takes 8 weeks to refund me?.I have to book other flights and I can't till I have that money back.I have spoken to emirates airline and they say it does not take 8 weeks.I have all the proof that I called flightsite and the chat I had with emirates.This is wrong that I must wait for 8 weeks as I need to book other flights and I can't do this till I have that money .Please can someone assist me with this as flightsite say's I must wait 8 weeks and I have no where else to turn,why is that they can take my money quick and not return it quick?.
