I JUST GOT ****MED BY PICK 'N PAY!!!
I've been looking to purchase 50 sheets of Butterfly colour board paper. I went to have a look at the current price and saw that what they had there, was R55.47. I took a picture on that day (17 April) because I wanted to compare it with other places where I can find the same quality sheets. Pick 'n Pay won! I went back today and it was the exact same price so I put it in my cart and continued on to grab other items I needed. When I got to the till, it was the first thing that was scanned and the price was R80.69!! HOW?
I told the cashier, as my right would have it, that the price I'm seeing here is not the same as on the section. And guess what?! The picture I took 3 days came to my rescue as proof. She called the powers that be and they showed up 7mins later with both the old R55.47 tag AND a newly printed price tag of R80.69. What aggravated me was the insulting gesture to think that I will not see that the tag has been freshly printed. To add to this, the till packer whom they sent to go on this mission, found a gut somewhere in her to lie and tell me that the actual price was hidden under the price I saw. Clearly insinuating that I am blind - she obviously did not know that I had pictures as proof and that tag was nowhere near the paper there!
The manager or whoever it was, was completely unapologetic about their mistake to not place the correct tag. After being at it for about 5 minutes, me trying to show him that I came to buy the item for R55.47 as the price indicated, he plainly told me, this is the price (R80.69), take it or leave it! I have to say, I admire his stubbornness, ignorance and disregard for consumer rights, but not all consumers will share the same sentiment.
As a consumer I feel this behavior us unacceptable. If anything, they should thank me as I pointed out a major flaw on their part. Who knows how long that incorrect price has been there for? And who knows what else they overcharge us for? If that item was not scanned first, I probably wouldn't have seen that the price was inflated. Imagine the other victims that fell pray to the same ****!!!
Needless to say, I walked out of there without the paper I went to buy or any of the other items. I was greatly insulted by their behavior and I do not intend to purchase from Pick 'n Pay again. Even if I go back, I can never trust that they are billing me the same amount as seen on the isle!
It's the little things!
