I DIDN’T EXPECT THIS FROM PICK ‘N PAY

I have been a Pick ‘n Pay customer for many years.

This week, I decided to try their on-line shopping not realising that the prices listed when you place the order [as with all other on-line shops that I buy from] are not necessarily the same as when you pay for the order.

The total “original” order (placed 3 days ago) was for R 1,489.92.

This morning, I got a call from my bank asking me to authorise a payment to Pick ‘n Pay for over R 1,520.00. I didn’t and gave them the amount of the original order.

Following the call, I received my order. Pick 'n Pay removed an item from the order worth R 114.99 [without informing me] and charged me R 1,439.92. No doubt because I did not authorise the inflated payment. Behaviour that I really did not expect from Pick ‘n Pay.

The explanation from Nomfundo Ngwenya at Pick n Pay Online Shopping Team? “Good day, Please payment reserve explained. This info is currently available in several places on the website – we explain the reserve amount on the order confirmation page, the order confirmation email, T’s and C’s and FAQs. There is also a help page on the site here that explains the entire process" Fortunately, I am only R64.99 out of pocket because I failed to read the “small print”.

My days of shopping at Pick ‘n Pay (on-line and otherwise) are over.

Reviewer Update
Hello Pick n Pay team,

I can well understand that you are "experiencing high volumes" judging from the reviews here.
No, need for you to do anything.

Apparently I will be getting a credit of sorts - not an actual refund to my credit card - or something to that effect which I didn't quite understand.
Probably some more "small print" which I am not going to worry about in view of the relatively amount involved.

As I wrote, I doubt whether I will be shopping at Pick 'n Pay again to use the credit.

But thank you for the "standard" reply.
