Humiliated at 38 weeks pregnant - Tygervalley Pick n Pay clothing

I visited the Pick n Pay clothing store in Tygervalley today. I went to Cobble walk first and they didn’t have the size cardigan I was looking for. The kind cashier checked and informed me that Tygervalley had 5.

I drove all the way to Tygervalley just to be met with the rudest two employees I have ever come across.

I couldn’t find the product myself and went to the male employee, unfortunately I could not catch his name. I showed him the picture and asked him if he maybe knew where the cardigans were. He immediately became aggressive and told me “now where must he find it” and “everyday is a search for things in the shop” all in Afrikaans. He stomped around the store and started raising his voice at me.

Please note I am 38 and a half weeks pregnant and just wanted the cardigan for the hospital on Friday.

I then asked him politely if he can check with the SKU number as cobble walk confirmed they had 5 in stock. He stormed off to the tellers and told me very aggressively that I must do him and myself a favour and just leave my details as this will take weeks to find! I then asked him nicely to please just check for me. He then started raising his voice again, becoming increasingly agitated with me. Telling me I don’t hear him and he kept cutting me short.

After a while a female employee came over, I explained the situation and showed her the photo.

She then said it is old stock but they do have. The male and I walked with her. Only to find one in cream and size XL. I ask her to please check as cobble walk confirmed they had 5 XS in stock.

She then started raising her voice at me… all in-front of other customers. I felt so humiliated standing there, tired and very pregnant.

She told me that she has a lot of stock at the back and it will take weeks to go through the boxes and it is out of the question that they can help me get one before I go to hospital.

I then expressed very softly and politely to her that I have walked and driven so far and I am really tired, if she can just help me. She then started in a risen voice again that I can come to the back if I think she is lying to me.

All the other customers watched and I felt so terrible! These two employees made me feel like I did something terrible and that I was a pure nuisance! I walked out and cried and just thought… I can’t believe how awful they were!

This is such unacceptable behaviour for employees and to someone who is willing to spend my hard earned money at the store.

I really expect that a talk should be had to the employees at that store! It was such a humiliating and degrading experience!
