Horrible service
I am writing to formally demand accountability regarding the sale of spoiled lamb purchased from Pick n Pay Hypermarket, Port Elizabeth, on Black Friday.
The meat was properly bagged and frozen on the same day of purchase. When I removed a portion approximately one week before Christmas, it emitted a strong, putrid odor and was clearly unsafe for consumption. A second portion was removed and found to be in the same condition. This confirms that the product was already unfit for human consumption at the time it was sold to me.
Despite presenting this legitimate complaint, the store has refused to accept responsibility, process a return, or issue a refund. This refusal is unacceptable and constitutes a clear violation of the Consumer Protection Act, which guarantees consumers the right to goods that are safe, of acceptable quality, and reasonably durable.
As an unemployed mother of two children, the financial loss of an entire lamb is significant. The dismissive and unprofessional manner in which the butchery manager handled this matter demonstrated a complete lack of concern for consumer rights and basic ethical standards.I stronly believe if i was different colour they would've been more helpfull ive seen how they choose who they going to give good service.I am deeply dissatisfied with how this issue was addressed and firmly believe it was not treated with the fairness or seriousness it warranted.
Furthermore, customer service failed to respond for two weeks and only did so after I was forced to follow up a second time. This delay reflects a systemic failure in customer care and complaint resolution.
I have been a loyal customer of Pick n Pay for many years. However, this experience has severely undermined my trust in the brand. Should this matter not be resolved immediately and satisfactorily, I will proceed with lodging a formal complaint with the National Consumer Commission and will pursue all further remedies available to me under the law, including public disclosure of this experience.
I expect a written response and resolution without further delay.
Sincerely,
