Horrible Behavior

On 21/03/2022 I went to the Hypermarket in Boksburg as I normally do on a month end to do my grocery shopping. Unfortunately this time I had a very bad experience after over 10 years of monthly shopping in this store, I was with my husband but ever since i walked into the store we were being followed my a man in a beige jacket. I thought that maybe after seeing him watching us in the first two aisles that maybe I was imagining this...until I really started taking note. Every aisle we would walk into he is there, I eventually told my husband about my observation and he said he saw same but did not want to alarm me. I decided to test the theory and we were close to the optometrist side where said man got distracted by some of the ladies in the beauty\sanitary area. We decided to go the opposite direction back to the bakery, moving back to the beauty[sanitary area we noticed he was at the entrance looking frazzled as he seemed to have lost us. when we got back to the other side of the store someone alerted him that we were back that side and once again he was there. As we were walking to the tills I told my husband that I'm going to trap him and ask him what the deal is. Please note at this point I was furious. I walked in between the clothing out of his eye view and awaited him and like a lamb to the slaughter he walked right into and did not know whether to run or hide. I asked him why he was following me he said he was working undercover as a security. I repeated the question he said he was not following me...I asked again and explained to him that I have been testing him the whole time and he could not respond. I asked again what on me looked suspicious enough for him to be following me as I have a full trolley and how am I going to ***** it. He could not answer me. I advised that I'm going to report it. I got to the till and asked to speak to a manager and they brought me I think his name was Alpheus. I explained what happened and he firstly told me that its the 1st time he sees me in the store. I was not aware that I had to report or sign a register every time I entered there as I've been shopping there over 10yrs. He then proceeds to tell me that he does not know why the guy was following us as I don't look like a ********. He then apologizes for the guys actions and explains that he will his boss and tell him what happened and the next time i come in I must come look for him and get feedback. WOW.....what customer service. Is this how you treat your customers....not even can I take your number and I will provide you with feedback?. As a woman in SA we have to be so alert to our surroundings as we get kidnapped and ***ually harrased so easily. What would have happened if I was alone or with my kids? Was I gonna be followed until my car? Hijacked or ****d maybe? I don't know. This was the most unsafe I have ever felt in that store and no one can tell me why I was being followed. What's worse about all this is that there was a lady in a grey dress that was trying to pickpocket customers but his attention was so focused on us that he did not even see that but he is "undercover". This man could not even take note that I was onto him since aisle 2, what kind of undercover operative is that? Management of Pick n Pay this is unacceptable, if you really want to confirm that I am a customer there you are more than welcome to go back on my smart shopper card but whether its my 1st time or I'm a regular it does not matter. As Alpheus said I am walking and filling a trolley I shouldn't be followed around when its clear that I'm there to do my shopping. I spend thousands of Rands every month in this store and have to be subjected to this. I really need to know what I did wrong in order to prevent this from happening in the future. Maybe its the way I looked, walked or discussed the groceries with my husband as I was packing into my trolley.
