Groundhog Day at Pick n Pay

I have used the Pick n Pay ASAP app around 5 or 6 times, and there has never NOT been a problem. (I only use it as I have discounts through Daily Maverick). Normally there are items unavailable (often everyday items like Coke Light!) and yet they charge you for them. In order to get your money back, you need to order again, and then of course there is a problem the next time, and so it goes on. Getting fresh produce is an absolute no-no. The one time I did, the guavas expired the same day, and the bananas were so dark green that they took over a week to ripen (are the packers told to use otherwise unsellable goods for ASAP customers?) I even had an order not arriving and when I phoned to find out why they said there was a problem with the app, which only worked on mobile data. So I therefore needed to turn off my wifi and use mobile data instead. (WHAT???) Then today, very reluctantly, as I was stuck at home all day working, I decided to buy 4 very straightforward items (yoghurt, milk, toilet paper, coffee). I chose alternatives just in case, and thought "Surely Pick N Pay can't stuff this one up?" I should have had more faith. Of course they could!! The bag arrived broken and the most expensive item, the coffee, was missing. When I phoned to complain, the laissez faire attitude was pronounced. The only thing that could be offered was to put a refund on my account, which can then only be activated the next time I order.... (It is like being in an episode of Groundhog Day). Meanwhile I had someone at the house to whom I could not offer the promised coffee. Surely this is not rocket science. Why don't the drivers just come straight back with the missing items? The customer is left out of pocket and without the goods they need. Pick N Pay, you deserve to go out of business. For years you have treated your customers with contempt and your service gets worse and worse while your competitors thrive. Judging by the dwindling numbers in the stores, though, you are doing a very good job of accomplishing just that.
