Greeting customers, what for?

I sometimes forget why I avoid shopping at the Pick 'n Pay outlet in Summerstrand Village, Port Elizabeth, but then I shop there and get reminded.

This morning, there were very few tellers open resulting in long queues at the tellers that were open.

After standing in the queue for some time, I noticed that there was an operator sitting at till 8, which was the till next to where I was queuing. Till 8 was closed when I joined the queue.

I walked across and asked Izane, sitting at till 8, whether she was open. She nodded once. No good morning, no greeting of any kind.

I proceeded to ask her why she had not made it known to those of us queuing that she had opened.
\I thought that you wanted to pay at that one"";no thank you when requesting and receiving the payment.

From now on I will remember and Pick 'n Pay should also remember that we do have a choice.

I will in future spend my money at Spar and Woolworths Food Stores who seem to value their customers by offering pleasant customer service at their tills."""
