Grand profiteering?

I was absolutely gobsmacked to discover that the prepared salads at the deli bar at the Hyper-by-the-Sea had virtually doubled practically overnight. The price had rocketed from a fair and affordable R39.99 per kg to R74.99 per kg. When I confronted the manager responsible for this section of the store, he informed me that the massive increase was attributable to the increased cost of fresh produce which was exacerbated by the drought. I don't buy this ****erally) when the La Lucia store a few kilometres up the road manages to maintain the price of R39.99 per kg. But why should I go there when the Hyper is so much closer to my home and more convenient?

A complaint on P'n'P's website was met with silence, apart from an "out of office" reply that popped into my e-mail inbox from one Glenn Miller saying he'd be back in the office on 18 May 2016. It is August 2016, to my knowledge. Perhaps he has absconded and is playing in a swing band somewhere.
