Gender and Race-Based ************** Ignored by Pick n Pay — No Response Since Formal Complaint Logged on 7 April regarding an incident that took place at Pick n Pay store situated in Walmer Park, Gqeberha

I am utterly disgusted and disappointed by Pick n Pay's complete disregard and inaction regarding a formal complaint I submitted on 7 April 2025, both to the store where the incident occurred and to Head Office.

Despite the gravity of the matter, I have received no follow-up, no response, no solution - not even an acknowledgment. This, in a time where gender-based violence and ************** are at an all-time high in South Africa, is not only tone-deaf but dangerously negligent. The incident in question involved me being wrongfully accused and subjected to degrading treatment, directly tied to my gender, race, and age.

This type of conduct is not just inappropriate - it is unconstitutional.

Under the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, every person has the right to:

1.Equality (Section 9): "Everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit of the law." 2. Human dignity (Section 10): "Everyone has inherent dignity and the right to have their dignity respected and protected." 3. Freedom and security of the person (Section 12): "Everyone has the right to be free from all forms of violence from either public or private sources."

In addition, I invoke my rights as a consumer as protected by the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (CPA), which guarantees:

1.The Right to Fair and Honest Dealing (Section 40): No supplier may use unfair tactics, **************, or any form of harassment. 2.The Right to Equality in the Consumer Market (Section 8): I may not be treated unfairly or be discriminated against on the basis of race, gender, age, or other grounds. 3.The Right to Fair Value, Good Quality and Safety (Section 54): I am entitled to services that are performed in a manner and quality that consumers are generally entitled to expect. 4.The Right to Lodge a Complaint and Receive Redress (Section 56 and 69): I have the right to be heard, to have my complaint fairly investigated, and to receive a remedy where wrongdoing has occurred.

Pick n Pay, a national retailer whose majority customer base reflects my demographic, cannot remain silent when such a serious matter has been brought to their attention — especially when their silence becomes complicity in systemic ************** and emotional harm.

It is especially disheartening that this occurred at a store located in an 'affluent neighborhood', where one might expect a basic level of decency and professionalism. Instead, I was humiliated, profiled, and silenced, and the matter continues to be ignored weeks later.

Pick n Pay’s inaction is unacceptable. It reeks of institutional apathy, and I will not allow this to go unchallenged. If necessary, I will pursue this matter legally and raise it in the public domain, through every channel available to me, until accountability is served.

You cannot claim to serve all South Africans while violating the very values enshrined in our Constitution.

Do better, Pick n Pay. We are watching.

Dear Pick n Pay Customer "CARE" Team,

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, your reply is an automated message that i have already received on several occasions via e-mail and does not reflect the seriousness or urgency of the incident I reported. I find this deeply disappointing, especially given the time that has already lapsed since my initial complaint.

I want to remind you, AGAIN, that this repeated delay and lack of personalized engagement suggests a concerning pattern of avoidance rather than resolution. I want to make it very clear that I am keeping a detailed record of all communications, or lack thereof, as my legal team and I are monitoring the handling of this matter closely.

Each delay on your part only contributes to the growing body of evidence that your customer care processes are failing and that the value of your brand is being undermined from within. I implore you to act swiftly and appropriately, not only in resolving this specific issue, but in demonstrating that Pick n Pay truly stands by its commitment to customer service - for your good.

I await a proper, meaningful response from a senior representative, not another templated message. My patience is a long-term investment.
