Fast Food Rant
The level of service in most industries is well below par these days. But the fast food sector must be one of the worst, with no single take-away or fast food outlet shining above the other. I had a bad experience at one of my favourite 'joints', Chicken Licken next to DUT onthe Berea under lockdown level 2. One was able to eat at most eateries, however this particular one did not allow sit-down diners. Funny enough, you were not allowed to eat your take-away in your car parked on the premises either. This happened to me on a day when there was only 1 other car parked outside. The security guard became very arrogant and aggressive, threatening to have me removed by the security company. As for KFC, i've given up hope. They advertise "specials" on TV and when you go there, the special is seemingly not available on the last week of the month, but only after month-end. This happened to me on 3 occassions - once at Russell Str outlet, and twice at Moore Rd. I've also raised the point with the regional office that none of their stores give you the copper coins of your change, but round it up to the nearest Rand value. Something I strangely also experienced at Pedro's recently too. Imagine all the 10c coins adding up at the end of the day, and whose pocket it goes to? I browsed the Mr.D site the other day, and was horrified at the prices of take-aways in general. How do families afford to buy take-outs when its far more economical to cook-in and still have some leftovers for the next day to snack on....
