False advertising Pick n Pay St Peter's Square, Observatory.

On Thursday 29th Feb. I was handed an advertising brochure at the traffic lights. The advertising material purported to be exclusively for the Observatory (Cape Town) Pick n Pay Family store and valid until 3rd March. On the second last page of the advertising brochure was an adverti*****t for a 2 Raid refills PLUS a Raid plug-in unit for an all-inclusive price of R59.99 (Smart Shopper Price). The actual wording read: "Buy Raid Electric Insect Killer 2 X 33ml Refill and get Raid Electric Primary Unit FREE". On Friday 1st March I especially went to the Observatory Pick n Pay at St Peter's Square to buy this item. I could not find any such item so I inquired of the person in charge of that section (Lubalalo), who took me to the relevant aisle and advised me that they did not hae the product. There were Raid infividual 33ml Refill packs (1 refill) marked R52.99 and Raid Electric Mosquito Killer units marked R84.99 each. He informed me that I could not buy it for R59.99 as advertised but would have to pay he full price for each. I asked to speak with the Manager, and he left to call the Manager, only to return without the Manager and the message that the Manager was too busy to see me. I pointed out that this was misleading advertising and that I would take the matter further, but he advised that there was nothing that he could do. I asked for the Owner's details, but he refused to give them to me. This would appear to be a ploy to lure customers to their shop by advertising something that they either do not have and never had or simply refusing to honour that advertising offer. The entire experience was distasteful and I take offence to being conned in this matter wasting my precious time and resources in response to false advertising. I also believe that the Manager's attitude in not attending to me, or even asking for my telephone number to contact me later, was totally disrespectful, and certailnly not the sort of attitude I would expect from someone in his/her position.
