False advertising!

As a consumer working in retail, we are always taught that the consumer pays the price advertised. I was therefore very surprised to have staff of Pick n Pay Little Falls refuse to honor pricing that was clearly very different on the Pick n Pay website versus the marked price on shelf, arguing that pricing on the PnP website only pertains to purchases made online, and in order to qualify a purchase at the advertised online price, I had to buy 2 (or in some cases 3) units of the item in question. There is no indication of this on the website, no mention of 'online - only' pricing or 'in order to purchase an item at said advertised price, you need to purchase 3 of them' wording linked to any item advertised on the online platform. If something is marked at R40 online, one doesn't expect to get to the physical store only to be told I have to buy 2 of them and pay R80 instead. This was the case across many items I looked at. You can take a page out of Checkers' book, where normal price is advertised along with additional wording stating 'buy 3 and pay ***'. Or how about Makro, who clearly indicate online promos with the wording 'online - only' attached to the product listing. They way the site manager dealt with the situation means you have lost a client. Well done PnP on your lack of consumer s****s.
