FALSE ADVERTISING

Good day. I wish to log an official complaint with Pick n Pay Hyper, Princess crossing. I went to Pick n Pay Hyper Princess crossing on Saturday the 22 August 2020 to purchase a TV that they had on special the week before. The special was for R4999.00, Store account R181 PM x 36 ** Total Repayment R7114 @ 17.75%. I knew that the special was over but I wanted this 55’’, UHD, HDMI x3, USB x2, 3 Year warranty AIM TV. Model:CZ1855, Resolution 3840 x 2160, TV License required as per the Pick n Pay Hyper booklet.

When I got to the store I went to the back and the lady said the special is over and the TV is now R5499.00 which I did not have a problem with. She then advised me to please go to Customer Service to Open an account as I wanted to purchase this on account. So I went to the Customer Service and said to the lady that I would like to purchase something on account. Her response was: Till further notice. I asked her what do you mean till further notice. And she advised that we cannot purchase anything on account due to Covid and further notice. I asked her then why do they advertise for us to purchase this on account and she just said Eish Sorry.

Firstly I still have the booklet that shows the promotion, I do not care that it expired and that I will purchase it on the new amount of R5499.00 but the problem I have is that you advertise that people may come in and purchase TV’s, Fridges, Cellphones, deepfreezes, ovens etc on a store account. Obviously it will be to Terms and conditions so I went to see what kind of Terms and conditions they have. But there is nothing said that you cannot open a store account at Pick n Pay Hyper due to Covid. No where in the store is there any notification or anything about this. Lastly the staff themselves don’t even know as the one referred me to customer service to open my account.

I think this is false advertising and this needs to be brought to the public as well as to the CEO of Pick n Pay Hyper. You should not advertise and make booklets and get this delivered to clients and get their hopes up just to be told UNTILL FURTHER NOTICE. This is truly unacceptable and clients and customers out there needs to be made aware of this. I would like a written response from Pick n Pay Hyper on why we are not allowed to purchase on account. Where is this shown, why do they offer this and publish these booklets? This is unfair treatment to a client and would like to escalate this to as this is FALSE ADVERTISING.

Your assistance and feedback will be greatly appreciated. Ntasha
