Saturday 28 April My husband went to PnP hypermarket in response to an adverti*****t that we saw in their newspaper: Valid 23April-6May Add states: “Buy any 3 Mark Anthony Haircare products and get the cheapest 1 free” With a huge red price on the picture stating: From R59,99
This was an excellent promotion so I asked my husband to get two specials (six products in total)
On the shelves all the Marc Anthony products were marked at R139 , so once he got to the cashier he checked to make sure of the special promotion? The cashier rang up the shampoo and conditioner it was R139each for the three and R44 discount for the three (which was the special that was on the racks). So he told her about the promotion- she rep**** that it was probably only a one day special- he then showed her the date on the paper , he then also explained that all the products on the shelf are R139 there’s nothing for R59,99 you can’t Say from R59 if there’s no products at that price. She couldn’t explain the situation so she called a manager.
The first manager was a lady -she said she also couldn’t understand what’s going on but she was willing to give all three for R59,99 but not a third one free. My husband was willing to accept that offer, but then she said she just has to call another manager first. The 2nd manager was a guy and he didn’t know what to do so they called the store manager.
The store manager then said that there’s other products in the range that are R59,99 . All three managers then went to the rack with my husband and saw that there no products for that price they were all marked at R139 . The store manager then stated that there are other products in this range at other stores marked at R59,99. My husband said, “Ok,can you tell me what the other products are that are R59,99?”. So he said he’ll ask other stores and get back to him - my husband gave him his number-we’re still waiting for his feedback it’s been 5 days and no response.
Then my husband said that he’ll wait for the feedback but for now (originally I wanted six), he’ll only buy the Two for R139 and get the third one free as stated on the adverti*****t.
!!! To this the store manager rep**** that it was impossible to get that promotion as the adverti*****t states: “get the CHEAPEST one free”, and there was NO cheapest one cause they were all the same price- so he would not be able to get that free. !!!
REALLY!!!
Then he tried to explain that it also works like that at Clicks and other stores...
My husband didn’t even try to argue or converse further with the store manager- he was so shocked that he would say such a things- (and he’d just bought a few “three for one” specials at Clicks and those products were the SAME price). At this my husband just left. He’d already waisted SO much of his time with this and really wasn’t going to waste more!
I still have the adverti*****t on the picture there are four products shown, all four of which are R139 ... I believe that if you put out an adverti*****t like this that the products that are priced at R59,99 should also be featured among those more expensive products in the picture- otherwise it is misleading. When I first saw the adverti*****t, I sent it to a few friends cause I was so excited about it. I had to reply to each one- apologizing and stating that it was FALSE Advertising.
