EXTREMELY BAD SERVICE PICK N PAY LEMON TREE
On the 26th of August 2021 I went to do my monthly grocery shopping at Pick n Pay Family Newmarket (also known as Lemon Tree Mall) and in one of the shopping isles, I came across a Russel Hobbs 1.75L blender priced at R111.99 It was the last blender on the shelf so I took it and placed it in the shopping cart and carried on with the rest of my shopping. At the pay point, the cashier scanned the blender and the price came up as R1119.00 and not R111.99 as per the label on the shelf. I alerted the cashier that the scanned price and the price quoted on the shelf are different, the cashier then asked her colleague to go check the price quoted on the shelf. Upon her return to the till they confirmed that the prices were not the same and called in their supervisor to confirm the same, the supervisor then notified the manager who went to go check the price quoted in the label. After a couple of minutes the manager came to the till point and this is where my gripe is with him. Firstly he didn't even greet or introduce himself and address the issue at hand in a professional manner, I had to engage him and asked "what needs to be done now". His answer: it's a labeling malfunction "we have over 15 thousand labels in the store and they sometimes malfunction", they can't make sure that all labels are correct at all times. I then asked him what needs to happen now & his response was to offer the blender at the scanned price of R1119.00 and I told him that's not the price shown on the label. He directly refused to sell it at the price because it's a label malfunction, he didn't even want to come down on the price by R100 or R200, but the biggest insult was the fact that he didn't even apologise to me as the customer for the inconvenience caused.
