Expiry Date - Falsifying new expiry dates.

I purchased 2 "BushFire Grade A" Prego Spiced Fresh Chickens and various other meat and groceries from Brentwood Park p'np store, and then left for a weekend away at Magaliesburg.

On Saturday evening, the 16th September (The day of our arrival) 1 of the chickens and and some of the other meat, also purchased from P'nP Brentwood Park, was cooked on a braai.

Some time after enjoying our dinner, we progressively all became violently ill. I immediately realized the symptoms of food poisoning, and began to trace the source of the problem. On investigating, I found that the chicken purchased, had its expiry date falsified and extended by 11 days. (photographic evidence available).

Pick 'n Pay label had "Packed on 08-09-2017" and "Best before 22-09-2017" However, what we did not originally notice when opening the vacuum packed chicken flatty, was that there was a yellow price tag (Underneath), with Black lettering, where is is Clearly stamped "Use By 11/09/2017"

How is it, that Pick and Pay sees fit, to change and re-package food, extending a sell by date?

My family was all infected with salmonella food poisoning which was contracted from your chicken that p'np chose to extend the Use By date, by 11 Days!

This unacceptable practice, resulted in a catastrophic weekend away.

I returned to the store on Tuesday morning, and spoke to "Steve" from the butchery department. He advised that "This is how the chicken arrives, and that they will look into it"

I was refunded for the 2 chickens purchased, but this no way even begins to compensate for the inconvenience, and more importantly the serious health and safety food code, that is being ignored and covered up by rebranding "Use by" food dates.

I view pick and pay's lack of quality control and blatant disregard for "use By" dates unacceptable. Furthermore, to extend a food products date by 11 days is ********.
