Expired Tinkies in boxes on sale

I bought 2 boxes of Tinkies that are on special at PnP Brooklyn, Pretoria on the 30 September 2022. I gave 1 box to the kids on the 30th Sept and another 1 on the 01 October 2022 . My niece noticed that they had already expired on the 24 September 2022. I am not sure if the first box that I gave them the previous day was also expired but I do have the second box with 4 because I told kids to throw away the 2 that they had opened. This is not cool because sometimes other people get different reactions towards stale/expired foods. Were these Tinkies on sale because they have expired?
