Expired Stock
Good Day
I went to PnP Atrium on Wednesday, 31 October 2018 to go and pay my flights, but thought I'd take a walk through the store and buy a few things. Decided to buy the Big Jack Pies for myself and my year old son as my daughter is sleeping by my niece.
On 1 November I decided to heat up the pies for supper and made chips and salad with it. I was busy while my son had his and he came to me telling me he's putting away the rest of his pie, which was strange cause it's his favorite, but I didn't think anything of it at the time. I then had mine a few minutes later... Coming closer to the end of the pie I bit into a very hard and tough piece of meat and something just made me look at the date to see that IT EXPIRED 01/08/2018 ALREADY!!!!! I fumed of anger and not long thereafter both of us started getting stomach cramps.
Both of us had the runs but my son's wasn't as bad as mine, only to realize the school phoned me to ask if someone can pick up my 8 year old son as he's got a rash on his body. His father had to fetch him from school and had to take him to doctor. What's making matter worst is that I tried phoning PnP Atrium this morning, they answered the 1st time and "transferred" my call to the manager and I held on for 4 minutes just for the call to get cut. I tried phoning for a half an hour thereafter and the phone was just ringing/no answer.
Pick n Pay Atrium is selling old stock. They have mark downs on old stock - for one the prawns which you can see with the eye that it is old. I know exactly how it works in retail. You, PnP appoint merchandisers from another company whom pack your racks and fridges. it's their responsibility to check that you have items in stock and that the old stock gets removed. Should they fail to adhere, especially with the old stock, the company gets a fine for up to R10 000 if not more and their employee undergoes a hearing.
You as a franchise PnP have a responsibility to check as well. I will NEVER go to Atrium PnP - this is my 1st time and an extremely unpleasant experience. I have informed the media about it as well and they are busy investigating before exposing PnP completely. Seems like they have been making headlines lately.
I have attached my till slips and picture of the expired packaging. If I can request his father to send the doctors receipt, I will do so too.
