Expired products on the shelf

I recently purchased a box of Prawns from Pick n Pay. I had paid R269 for it. When i got home to open it and prepare, i saw that it was old, it was starting to turn black, and had a terrible smell. Upon looking at the expiry date, i noticed that this product had actually been manufactured in November 2019, and is now over a year old... this is shocking as this is seafood. What upset me even more was the fact that I spent over R1000 on shopping that day, only to find a bad product. This was intended to be part of a larger meal, so as much as i only spent R269 on the box of prawns, I actually lost out on almost a R1000 as the other items where of no use anymore. I reported this to pick n pay customer care on 1st December. Besides an automated response acknowledging receipt of the email, I had not received any feedback.
