Expired chicken twice too many times

I have bought spoiled chicken from 2 different franchises within a week - Randridge Mall and Boskruin (which is my favourite one). How did that happen? How is that possible? Both had expiry date 2 days later than the date I bought them, and I had bought to cook on the same day.
