Does PnP care?
Have you ever been frustrated by a store advertising a special, only for you to get there ad be told there is no stock. So on Saturday, 16 November 2024, I pop in at the Hypermarket in Ottery to buy a few things, including their special on Aquafresh toothpaste. Well nothing on the shelf, so I enquire at the customer service desk. They send a lady to check if there is stock in the back, amazing that their systems can't tell them if the store has stock or not, who quickly comes back to say there is nothing. So I request a raincheck, only to be told they don't do rainchecks, since when? Clearly they were not interested in me as a customer. Quite frustrated, I left the store and called in to speak with the manager on duty and was promptly put through to someone who did not identify himself but who said he was the manager, and so I can only assume this was not the manager. s I was trying to convey my story, this person kept speaking over me as if to shut me up and proceeded to tell me that because I am being persistent or insistent, he will do the raincheck. He spoke with me in an extremely rude and disrespectful manner. Not because I am a customer but no human being speaks to another in this manner. I was so disgusted that I ended the call. I then sent an email to the Pick n Pay customer care address and up until today, 21 November 2024, I have had no response from the company. Now I don't consider myself to be above anyone else but as a business, do you not treat your customers with respect? Do you not honour your obligations with regards to products you advertise, or is this a ploy simply to get people into the store? How do you not have stock 1 day after the promotion starts? This seems to be misleading people s I was not the only person there, looking for the specials.
Am I really expected to go back to that establishment, to do my shopping, when the staff, including management, and I am generalising, don't care about their customers? As someone who has been in retail, I am so disappointed because ensuring customer loyalty starts with your customers wanting to come back and largely because they enjoy the experience in your store.
