Do not buy any appliances at Pick n Pay

In July 2017 my wife bought a Russel Hobbs glass electric kettle from Pick n Pay Oakfields in Benoni, where we live. Within 2 months the lid broke off of the lifting mechanism. My wife promptly took the kettle and the proof of purchase back to the store, only to be told that we needed to contact the supplier, as they would not swap out or repair the kettle. Unfortunately, I was only informed of this last week…so I mailed both Pick n Pay and Russel Hobbs to to be told that they would repair the kettle, if I brought the kettle to their service department in Selby Johannesburg. Here is the dilemma, we bought the kettle in good faith from Pick n Pay, and it was a Russel Hobbs kettle. These are supposed to be good brands right? Well, the service department is 60 kms from my residence, so it would take at least 1,5 hours round trip in traveling, plus 120 kms of fuel...then we need to wait while they repair the kettle. This for a kettle that cost R599.00. Somehow I don't think so...no more Russel Hobbs products in my house and we will definitely not be buying any appliances from Pick n Pay.
