Damaged and used appliance put back on shelf

I bought a hand mixer from Pick 'n Pay in Gardens centre. Upon getting home and opening the appliance, which I had planned to use that night, I found that the mixer was missing all attachments. It was not in any sort of wrapping, and looked as if it had been used before. The mixer was dirty with what looked like cake mix on it. I returned it for cash the following day. I could not complain to the manager as I was told the manager was not on-site.
