Complete disregard of dietary requirements

I bought an apple turnover from PnP hyper in Ottery (Cape Town) on Saturday after having checked the ingredient list printed on the wrapping. I do not consume eggs for allergic reasons as well as religion reasons. However, when my wife looked at it after slicing it, she told it most likely contain eggs. I phoned other PnPs to find out and they all confirmed there is most likely eggs in the apple turnover. This morning, I phoned the PnP hyper and spoke to both the bakery manager and general manager and it was confirmed that it does contain eggs. Their attitude to this whole experience was "WE ARE GOING TO SEND AN EMAIL TO HEAD OFFICE AND ASK THEM TO SORT IT OUT". The general manager even told me I should not complain about this incident because we are going to sort it out. I even asked him about a refund and he wants me to drive for total trip of ±30km to come for a refund of under R20 and told me we do not compensate customers for mishaps like that. This is not the first time that such an incident happens with the bakeries of PnPs. This clearly show me the lack of concern displayed by PnP towards dietary requirements of customers, especially those related towards allegies. FROM NOW ON, I WON'T CONSIDER BUYING FROM THEIR BAKERY AND IF I CAN EVEN AFFORD TO NOT STEP INTO A PNP BECAUSE OF THEIR SHOCKING ATTITUDE, I WILL DO SO!!!
