Complaints about staff treatment
PnP complaint:
I am disgusted and appalled at PnP, The Arcade, in Fish Hoek. I am saddened by the lack of humanity and dignity of management when it comes to the staff members.
I bought a packet of Camel White from the Cashier. She thought I said Camel One and when I corrected her, she swapped the boxes. The problem was though that she owed me R16.00 because Camel White is cheaper than Camel One.
She rang for a supervisor to fix her error and was told she should have double-checked with me (the customer) because now she has to have R16.00 deducted from her salary because she is "short."
I VEHEMENTLY disagree with the blatant exploitation of workers. No, she is NOT "short," of money. She did not ***** the money nor did she the cashier lose money. It's simple paperwork that needs to be rectified.
PnP will NO longer have me as a customer because I REFUSE to aid in the mistreatment of workers. Cashiers do NOT earn a fortune and are generally barely making ends meet and R16.00 can buy a loaf of bread for her family.
I cannot believe that corporate companies continue to "punish" workers for what was a "simple mistake" - human error.
So I have to wonder if management is infallible or do they "ignore" their own mistakes and simply brush them off. Does this archaic, "slave" practice only affect the people at the "bottom of the food chain?"
If this is indeed their practice, I will certainly ensure that I discourage my social media followers from supporting PnP.
If it is NOT standard practice from PnP SA then I would expect them to immediately rectify the situation with their franchisee.
I await with bated breath but will, for now, NOT be supporting them.
