Complaint Regarding Poor Customer Service Experience

I would like to formally raise a concern regarding the service I received at the Pick n Pay BP Midtown Mall.

While stopping to refuel, I also intended to redeem a CashSend and complete payment at the till.

However, upon approaching the cashiers, I was repeatedly redirected between three different staff members. Each cashier referred me to another, and at no point did anyone take ownership of assisting me or clearly explain the process. This created confusion and unnecessary frustration.

After being passed around multiple times without assistance, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the situation. Instead of addressing the issue constructively, the store manager, Deborah, became involved.

Unfortunately, rather than listening to my concerns, she placed the blame on me as the customer. She suggested that I should have asked how their process works, despite the fact that I had already approached staff for assistance and was not guided appropriately.

What was most concerning was the lack of accountability and the dismissive attitude displayed. When I asked whether this was how customers are typically treated, the response I received was simply “yes,” which I found highly unprofessional and disappointing.

As a customer, I believe it is reasonable to expect clear communication, willingness to assist, and respectful treatment. The experience I encountered fell far short of these expectations. It is particularly concerning that this approach appears to be reinforced at a managerial level.

I strongly recommend that the store invests in customer service training for both staff and management to ensure that customers are treated with professionalism, respect, and efficiency.

This was meant to be a simple stop during my journey, yet it resulted in a very negative experience that could have easily been avoided with better service and communication.

I trust that this matter will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately.
