On the of Jan 2018 I went to do some shopping for my niece’s funeral (which was the following day- 3/1/2018) at around 7:15 pm. I took everything I needed and when I was the queue my nephew asked me to buy him a chomp chocolate(small one) and I agreed and he took it. So I got at the till they scanned my purchases but the cashier told me that she can’t scan one chomp as it doesn’t have the bar code as it comes as strips of 3-4 chomps and my nephew had opened it(mind you the other staff had to look for strip(s) of chomp in the store and they couldn’t find it meaning that it was only that 1 chomp that was left in the store). I then ask some lady (supervisor) to go and ask the manager what are doing in this situation. The lady went next door(PnP liquor) to speak to the manager and came back saying that the manager said I need to pay R10.00 for the chomp. I then told the lady that I need to speak to the manager as I can’t pay R10.00 for one chomp, and she went to call him. When the manager arrived I told him that I am disputing the R10.00 as I felt it was way too much for 1 chomp, arrogantly and rude the guy asked me where is other chomp chocolates as it is a strip of 3-4, I told him I don’t know as my nephew took only that one chomp and the cashier even agreed because she saw him when he was asking for it. Then there was an argument about the strip which I don’t know and I then ask him to go and check the CCtv footage for peace sake. They voided my purchases ask asked me to wait at while he go check the footage. After about 10 mins I went to his office to ask if he has checked it and only to find out that he was on the call. I asked him how long is it going to take as I have to go home and they are waiting for me, an argument started again. I told him that I want to pay for the chomp but not R10.00 or if he can give me the strip minus that 1 chomp, and there is no way that I will ruin my future over a chomp and the cashier saw that my nephew took a 1 chomp. We then reached an agreement that he will charge me (R12.49 for a strip /4 = R3.12) but when I check my slip at home he charged me R4.49 which is not far and I feel I was ******. My question is that how could PnP Merafe do this to me when I am loyal customer and spends my thousands on a monthly basis on the store. The cashiers and securities know me because I come there almost every day and why is the guy treating me like a *****. What making me more angry is that the way he was taking to me (a customer) he was rude, arrogant, and big headed. Before leaving the store I asked the guy his name and he said heis Lulama Mntingane (the assistant manager) and the cashier’s name is Mbali.
