Cash back withdrawals at tillpoints
There has been numerous times where I wanted to make a cash withdrawal at one of the Pick n Pay till points. I've grown accustomed to cashiers at the express tillpoint telling me that they do not have cash in their tills and I can't make a withdrawal. I even started standing in longer queues at other till points just to withdraw cash, thinking that they would possibly have more cash in their tills. The other day I went to purchase a few items and withdraw a R200 at the express till. The cashier first told me that she needs to now think how much cash she has in her till. She gave me the cash eventually, and I saw that she still had more than enough cash in her till. While I was getting ready to leave the till, there were 2 ladies behind me also wanting to withdraw cash. The cashier then told the ladies, without even asking the amount of the withdrawal, that she has no cash in her till after I've seen that she has enough cash in her till. The cashier next to her also answered that they don't have cash.
Can someone please tell me what the deal is with pick n pay not wanting to give their customers cash back? Why are their cashiers blatantly lying about having no cash in their tills? If they don't have cash in their tills, are they not supposed to call a supervisor to go and fetch cash for the customer? To avoid high bank charges for withdrawals, we are encouraged by our banks to withdraw at tillpoints, yet Pick n Pay does not seem to share the same vision. I haven't specified a branch, as I've experienced this at numerous different branches. Feedback on this matter will be appreciated.
