Blatant ****** at Pick an Pay liquor store
Earlier this evening I visited a Pick and Pay liquor store to purchase a few items. When I was ushered to the till I provided the items to be scanned. I also asked for a packet of cigarettes which was scanned and added to the total.
I noticed that the total exceeded the amount of cash that I had at hand. I then asked for a different, cheaper packet in order to accommodate said total. This understandably required the assistance of a supervisor to void the transaction and add the new item.
All the while, the cashier loudly voiced her displeasure at this. There were three staff members at the till, finding her displeasure amusing. The supervisor arrived to void the transaction and told her co-workers that “the uMlungu is a nuisance”.
I then asked her, in jest, which white person she is referring to. The ladies giggled and the supervisor said that they are laughing about their white “lady boss”. I frequent that store. There is no white “lady boss”.
I feel that being ridiculed for being white, is just as bad as being ridiculed for being black, Indian, coloured, or whatever race one can think of.
Bad form Pick and Pay, bad form.
