BAD FOOD SOLD - NO ACCOUNTABILITY & SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE

I am terribly disappointed at the lack of service and accountability by Pick n Pay customer service. On 12 May 2023 I wrote an email to customer service complaining about sushi purchased at the PicknPay on Strand Street, Cape Town the previous afternoon. I made the purchase on my way home in Brooklyn and I travel home by public transport. It was an 8-piece packet sold at R39 and was found on the sushi counter at the very front of the shop. 4 pieces were fried crunch pieces, the other 4 rainbow roll. When I got home, the very first piece opened was brown inside as the avo was either old and rotten or very brown. The other 3 fried pieces did not look much better and so I threw all 4 pieces in the bin and only ate the other 4 which looked okay. I took photos immediately and kept my receipt and sent the complaint the next day with the evidence. If it was possible to return it to store I would have, but I lived too far from the store. The 1st consultant, Amanda Pitana Mabija sent a generic email with a long list of info needed from me, as follows: Full name and Surname: Mobile number: Smart shopper card: E-mail address: Store Name: Best before: Barcode of the product: Production date: Date of purchase: Batch number: Amount of items purchased: Amount of items bad/ off: Returning the product back to the store: Yes or No Price paid: Pictures: Slip of purchase: As you can see quite a long list / half of which was answered already by the information supp**** in my email. I didnt know beforehand to keep the Best before; productions date; bar code and batch number. I was not even sure the packaging had that kind of information on the small price label it came with and I explained same, resending what I had already sent. Next I get another generic email from 2nd consultant, Zintle Asanda Mququ who clearly had not reviewed the thread of conversation and treated my reply as a brand new email asking for the exact same things. By that time I was annoyed. Is this how you treat customers PicknPay? Can your consultants even think for themselves, they seem to perform robotically? I then called the customer service line on Saturday morning, gave my reference which was 813737 to a Shevonne. She promised to look into the matter. She then called me back and said they were waiting on the information requested, which I yet again explained I did not have as the packaging was binned and I did not even think it had that information on. Next I received an sms to say the ticket is close. I also received an email from Zintle that the ticket is closed. To date no one has contacted me, apologised or confirmed that they have investigated the store where the item was purchased. I am deeply shocked by this treatment and PicknPay's service is getting worse and worse over the years. By their actions they have shown me that they do not take responsibility for bad food sold in their stores and they care more about their bottom line than about their customers' concerns. I have decided going forward that I will not spend any of my hard earned money at PicknPay if I can help it and I am about to spread these photos on social media.

Reviewer Update
An update on this issue and review 1 year later - despite the response from Pick n Pay as per above, the ticket was -re-opened, only to be promptly closed again. No-one contacted me and nothing was resolved. Just shows what kind of company Pick n Pay is. They do not need to address customer complaints because they make enough money cheating consumers with their high prices.
