Bad Customer Service from Pick n Pay

So on the 7th of March 2020, I went to Pick n Pay in Centurion Lake Mall. I bought a sandwich. When I got home, I saw the cheese had mold on it. I then looked at the BB date and the BB date was 07/03/2020. So it was supposed to be fine. I immediately reported it to Pick n Pay on their FB page and they acknowledged receipt of the complaint. They asked my address, name, smart shopper card nr etc. I live in Bloemfontein and was only in Gauteng for the weekend. So the next Wednesday the manager of Pick n Pay Centurion Lake Mall phoned me and said I can come get my refund. I told him it will be impossible as I live in Bloemfontein. I also brought in under head office's attention. So it is now 6 weeks since I lodged a complaint. They do not get back to my messages, I have phoned them and they told me it was escalated. And then when they did come back to me they stated they did contact me. And again I told them yes, you offered me a refund at the Centurion Lake Mall branch when I live in Bloemfontein. Do they expect me to drive all the way back for a small refund? Now the money is not the issue, but the whole way in which they tried to handle this situation. If they had just stated from the beginning that they will refund me on my smart shopper card, I would not have had an issue. But the audacity to tell me I can get a refund from Centurion Lake Mall branch after I told them I live in Bloemfontein, is just beyond hilarious and unprofessional. And for that reason I will never support Pick n Pay again. Useless customer service. They can learn from other companies how to handle complaints. A friend of mine bought an NPL bar at a Dischem also had mold on it. They immediately apologized and sent him a whole tub of Whey. I do not expect to be reimbursed the same, but the quick and efficient way in which they handled it is what Pick n Pay can learn from
