Arthur, what a horrible Manager at Coachmans PicknPay
PicknPay at Coachmans Peter Place has the most horrible manager I have ever come across as a client. I have seen him be really rude to his staff before but I was so shocked and honestly put off when this spilled to how he treated me as a customer.
So that PicknPay has had these cute little puppies that bark when you press their paw. Every time we went there it tickled my 8 month old when we’d let her play with the display one. So we decided to get her one for Christmas. We paid R250 for it and went our merry way. She opened it on Christmas and played with it a little bit. We went on holiday and when we got back she tried to play with it and it stopped working properly. Looked for the receipt to se if we could take it back, couldn’t find cos we all know what chaos everything becomes over Christmas. Didn’t worry about it because we 1. This is a small PicknPay and everyone there knows us (We are there atleast twice a week - they have a sweet special where you get twice as many baked goods as you order after 7). 2. This PicknPay pay is the only one I had seen the puppies at so obviously they’d recognize their merchandise and 3. We used to go to the big PicknPay on Nicol before we fell in love with this one, and when ever I needed to return anything they’d be darlings about letting us return what we bought from them. 4. I used my smart shopper card and figured clearly the system keeps track of my shopping they should be able to pull this shop out if I let them know when we bought it. Anyhow got there, spoke to the customer care guy. Who called his supervisor. Who continued to advise me that they had out the puppies on special for R50 (eek I know, talk about a markup ripoff right, either they seriously marked these babies up by a crazy amount over Christmas, or they bought such faulty stock all they wanted to do was get rid of them. Also please make a note that there was another puppy in a worse shape than mine sitting on the customer care counter.) So she said to me if I want a refund it would only come up to R50 cos I couldn’t prove I bought it before it was discounted or otherwise I could go to the marked down plush toy table and pick up any of the other plush toys they had there. She was being fair even though it was hard, so I headed over to the table to look at what they had. As I was standing there (I had my friend with me) Arthur, the old Indian manager comes up to us and says to me ‘can I help you lady?’. So I look up at him and say ‘oh no it’s fine, we are good. The lady is already helping us.’ Then he abruptly says as he displays the toy I had brought back ‘well I am this stores manager where is your receipt, you can’t exchange without a receipt?’ So I say ‘well I don’t have the receipts like I explained to the lady-‘ then he cuts me off ‘well how am I supposed to know you bought it from here?’ ‘Well I’d hope you know your merchandise sir?’ I responded. ‘you could have gotten it from any PicknPay!’ He barks. ‘But this is the only pick n pay I have ever seen this toy in.’ I stated. ‘Well you don’t have a receipt so go’ he says as he places the toy on the discounted table amongst the other toys. ‘Excuse me but that’s the puppy I came in with?’ I exclaimed. ‘Well take it, we are not helping you’. So I picked up the puppy in disbelief and real disgust. He could have let me know very professionally if he didn’t want to exchange the puppy for me. I would have taken it. Would have been cheesed but would have understood that he might have some validity. Yet the way he handled the situation and the way I have seen him shout at and treat some of his staff is really shameful. I am very disappointed that the people that only shop at this pick n pay have his behavior as an impression of what pick n pay is. We will def not be going back to this PicknPay which is disappointing cos the rest of the staff there is darling. But word of advise if you live in the area it’s worth driving down a minute to the big PicknPay for classier management and quality all round. #picknpay #badservice #dissapointing
