PHONETRADR HAS HAD MY IPHONE SINCE MARCH – I WANT MY PHONE BACK
I am extremely concerned and frustrated with my experience with Phonetradr.
Phonetradr has had my iPhone 14 Plus 256GB since March 2026, when it was listed for sale through them. It is now September 2026 and I have neither my phone nor payment for it.
After waiting for the phone to sell, I contacted Phonetradr on 13 May to ask about a cash offer or alternatively cancelling the listing and having my phone returned.
After several follow-ups, on 21 May Phonetradr offered me R7,000 cash. I accepted this offer in writing on 27 May and asked what the next steps were and when I would be paid.
I received no response and had to follow up repeatedly.
On 11 June, I was eventually told that my device had been reserved by a buyer and that they were waiting for the client's payment to reflect. They specifically told me that they would “keep you updated every step of the way.”
That did not happen.
I have subsequently sent numerous emails on 11 June, 22 June, 2 July, 6 July, 13 July, 20 July and again now in September, asking for an update, payment or the return of my device.
I have still not received a satisfactory response.
What makes this even more concerning is that I have now logged into my Phonetradr profile and my iPhone is not showing under “My Listings” at all.
Instead, my account is displaying an Oppo A54 and Samsung A54 5G – NEITHER OF WHICH BELONGS TO ME. I have screenshots of this.
I then attempted to phone the contact number published for Phonetradr and received a message saying the number does not exist.
At this point I am extremely concerned about the whereabouts of my property.
To be absolutely clear:
I NO LONGER WANT PHONETRADR TO SELL MY PHONE.
I have formally instructed them in writing to cancel the listing and I want my iPhone 14 Plus 256GB returned to me immediately and at ZERO courier or other cost to me.
After Phonetradr has retained possession of my device for almost six months, failed to conclude the matter, failed to provide proper updates despite countless follow-ups, and now has completely unrelated devices appearing on my account, I do not believe I should have to pay anything simply to have my own property returned to me.
I have retained my complete email trail and screenshots.
MY REQUESTED RESOLUTION:
1. Cancel any sale/listing of my iPhone immediately. 2. Confirm in writing where my iPhone physically is. 3. Return my iPhone 14 Plus 256GB to me immediately. 4. ZERO courier, cancellation or return fees to me.
If this is not resolved urgently, I will proceed with formal complaints through the relevant consumer protection channels and consider the legal remedies available to me to recover my property.
After almost six months, numerous unanswered emails and now incorrect devices appearing on my account, I have had enough.
I simply want my phone back.
