Avoid Phonetradr if You Value Your Time and Money

I originally posted a review on 12 March 2025 outlining my unresolved issue with Phonetradr. Unfortunately, that review was removed by HelloPeter, stating a violation of their content guidelines and requesting that I "state the facts only" and remove any potentially defamatory language. This is my attempt to repost the facts, along with an update on the situation.

I sold my white iPhone XR, which Phonetradr indicated was sold on 24 January 2025. I have still not received payment, and the complete lack of communication has left me with no other option but to escalate the matter.

Timeline of Events: - I made multiple follow-ups through WhatsApp, email, and phone calls between 5 February and 17 February, with no response. - My phone remained listed on my account page, at an incorrect price, but it appeared nowhere in the actual website's listings for people to purchase the phone, further suggesting that it had, in fact, been sold. - On 12 March, after I posted my original HelloPeter review, I received this email from Phonetradr the same day:

"Hooray! Your phone was sold! 🥳 [...] I’m excited to get you paid as soon as possible but just need to verify you quickly..."

They asked me to send my ID and proof of address, which I did immediately on 12 March via email. I also ensured my banking details were uploaded and correct.

My Follow-Up Emails (All Ignored): - 13 March: Requested proof of payment. No response. - 19 March: Requested proof of payment again. No response. - 23 March: Final request for proof of payment by 25 March. No response.

Despite their cheerful message, I have not been paid, and I believe the email was only sent to placate me after my public review. Their lack of follow-through since then only reinforces that.

I now intend to proceed with the formal steps (which I had mentioned in my removed review as well) which include reporting Phonetradr to the: - National Consumer Commission (NCC) - Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) - Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) - Competition Commission

If you are in the Nelspruit area and have had a similar experience - I would suggest you go to the Small Claims Court. This pattern of non-payment, ghosting, and false assurances must be addressed.

Phonetradr has failed to act transparently, responsibly, or professionally. I urge anyone considering using their platform to proceed with extreme caution.
