Shocking and Totally Unacceptable Non Delivery of Chronic Medication

My husband is on chronic blood pressure medication that he needs to take religiously every day. Pharmacy Direct were supposed to deliver his medication on the 30th December. To date, after calling Pharmacy Direct and using their chat line where the issue was raised numerous times and the urgency explained, he has still not received the medication. It is now the evening of the 7th January and still no delivery. We are on the 8th day of no delivery and my husband has not been able to take his chronic medication. To add insult to injury, Pharmacy Direct were credited for these medications by my medical aid on the 26th December. As a Pharmacy, one would presume that care would be taken and there would be an understanding that chronic medication is vital and urgent and failure to take the medication may be life threatening. This is obviously not the case. It is beyond my understanding how a Pharmacy can fail to deliver medication deemed essential to a persons health and that may be life-saving. Totally unacceptable and shocking! Horrific dereliction of service!!

Dear member,

We confirm that a Fund Account Manager has been in contact with you and provided you with feedback on your complaint. Herewith feedback as discussed.

On the 26 December your medication was due for processing, we were however unable to send the medication due to an account in arrears for medication processed on the 30 November 2018. On 2 January the query was raised that you required medication urgently, special approval was obtained to send the medication again even though the account was in arrears. Your medication was processed and dispatched on 4 January, the parcel is out for delivery today.

We trust that the discussion with the Fund Account Manager l provided clarity on the accounts payment process and that outstanding accounts must be settled before your next due date for medication.

Kind regards
