Chronic Medication and Pharmacy Direct.

We were told by our Medical Aid to move to Pharmacy Direct to avoid future co-payments on my wifes chronic medication. She always got the medication from Dischem with no co-payments for years. We had to get a copy of the Scrip and log it with Pharmacy Direct. Lo and behold they did not send the medication because Pharmacy Direct require a co- payment of under R150 and did not send the chronic meds.. For the last 3 years I got my medication from Pharmacy Direct and there was one medication that I had to pay for and they would send it and I would pay on receipt. From this month they did not send the medication and when I contacted them they agent said that their Finance Department had changed the policy. I asked for a email explaining this and to date nothing has been received? Very Frustrating and costs more than the co-payment to try and phone them and get put on hold for ages to resolve. They also do not connect when request a chat to agent on whatsapp messaging.

Good morning

Feedback was as follows: Bonitas has taken over Nedgroup and therefore some policies has changed. For the first 6 months we could override the co-payments but unfortunately we aren't able to override it anymore. Hence the co-payments. We do apologize for the change. We did send communications regarding this since the takeover so that members were informed.

The reason for the co-payment is because your wife's meds are out of formula and there is no generic for it. Apologies for that. Also, going to Dischem will also result in a co-payment. It will be a discussion with Bonitas to upgrade your plan to make the co-payments go away.

Apologies as well that we did not communicate this to you sooner, however we do see our pharmacist tried contacting you on the 15th of July to discuss but there was no answer. We do take responsibility for not helping when you called in. We will investigate as to why the whatsapp chat could not assist you.

Kind regards
Pharmacy Direct.
