"Technician" breaks new C250 Merc's windscreen

A small foreign object collided with the windscreen and left a small mark and a 15mm long hairline crack. I drove straight to PG Glass Midrand to have it fixed. The manager quoted me R270-00, but after I protested changed it to R200-00. The next thing a "technician" arrives who looked like he just woke up from a deep sleep. He didn't greet me or said anything and proceeded with the repair job.

I thought he was almost done, but then he got into the drivers seat with a folded paper towel. Suddenly he app**** an excessive amount of force to the inside of the cracked area and immediately the glas cracked right through from top to bottom with a loud breaking sound. He just continued to ignore me and said nothing whatsoever. I called the manager and pointed out to him that excessive force was used and if someone with common sense and a better attitude had done the job it would not have been broken.

The manager told me later on that they will not charge me for the repair and that they will also waiver the normal access amount that needs to be paid with an insurance claim. That evening I laid an official complaint on the PG Glass website and communicated with a live person who assured me that action was going to be taken soon. I am still waiting for PG Glass to respond.

The vehicle was a loan car from Mc Carthey Mercedes Benz Menlyn, as mine was in for repairs. Immagine how it feels to return a car with a windscreen cracked from top to bottom and which was issued to you in perfect condition.
