Damaged my vehicle's amplifiers for the Antenna and Central locking when tinting the windows.

My vehicle was taken to PG Auto Glass in Paarl on 16 July 2021 for window tinting. After completion I collected the vehicle and drove to TyreMart to obtain a quotation for tires. The vehicle did not want to lock using the remote buttons on the key. I phoned PG Paarl and asked what could be wrong. I went back to them, but the team was not available. I said its fine let me test the spare key at home. Went home and tested it, also did not work. I informed PG Paarl that it did not work, they said they will let me know when the team is back. Later they contacted me and, on the way, there the check engine light came on. I informed PG Paarl that I will have to drive through to Mercedes as the vehicle's check engine light came on and it was misfiring. The vehicle was at Mercedes till the next Friday when I collected it. Only then I realised the radio is also not working as I was listening to a CD on the day the vehicle went for Window tinting. I phoned Mercedes and they said I can bring the vehicle in to check. Because we had prior arrangements, I took the vehicle back the next week. I then informed Mercedes that the vehicle went for window tinting, the service advisor then said but that could be an issue to the amplifiers for the radio antenna and central locking situated in the rear door on the glass. Any water could damage that. THIS RISK WAS NEVER HIGHLIGTED BY PG PAARL!! I took the vehicle in, and they confirmed the amplifiers where damaged. Mercedes reached out to PG PAARL, indicating the replacement cost. The manager wrote a very unprofessional email dismissing my claim!!!! I have repeatedly asked them to assist with the cost and provide the so call video clip they had of when they tinted my vehicle. They have not responded to any of my emails. Vehicle Details: 2005 Mercedes Benz C230 Kompressor Coupe CJ 82063

I also called PG Glass HO and requested assistance, received no Feedback.

Good day

Please note of the following

We had asked the client twice to bring the vehicle back in order for us to do our own inspection which the client did not do and proceeded to take the vehicle to Mercedes , also the work was done on the 16th of July 2 weeks prior to inspection only done by Mercedes. So how we are able to determine if this fault existed prior to us doing the film fitment, we do not remove any panels on the rear of the vehicle which we have video footage of, as well as no excess water is used on the rear glass as the water is app**** only to the film itself to create a bonding agent between the glass and the glue on the film. We also use a special heat air gun to dry any excess water between the film and glass and to dry the bonding agent .

We were also informed that there were 2 clips broken on the panelling but no panelling was removed as previously mentioned.

I have also been contact with another Mercedes dealership and were also advised this part Is regularly replaced due to wear and tear. We are also aware that the client bought this vehicle next to nothing as mentioned by himself and that there were a few things that he needed to fix on the vehicle which he also mentioned, so again how are we to know that this wasn’t an existing issue before the vehicle came to us. As we do not run a full diagnostics test before we work on the vehicle

So unfortunately we are not able to take liability for the damages as we were not given the opportunity to assess the vehicle our self’s 2 weeks prior. As well as the points mentioned above.

Kind Regards

Manager

So PG Glass denies any wrong doing. BUT they will also not provide me the video they claimed to have of the tinting process of my vehicle. This should be proof that there was no water seepage that could damage the amplifiers.... So why not provide this to me?
