Big corporate that doesn't care about small customers
More than three months ago, I contacted PG Glass about getting a soundproof window installed in my recording studio. They told me that it would take up to three weeks to manufacture and install.
The absolute deadline, I explained, was the ninth of September (three months later). I needed it in by then so that the studio is ready for the start of a critical job with an important client.
What followed was service failure so extreme that I doubt anyone will believe. So, rather than listing every one of the many failures, I'll give you the greatest hits.
1. It took weeks just to get someone to my house to take measurements. This even though their shop is located less than 100 meters away.
2. After they took the measurements, they created a specification for the factory that was upside down. Thank heaven I noticed.
3. I sent well over 30 followups to the salesperson handling my account asking for an updated specification (I got an empty promise about once per week).
4. After two months, my contact person simply stopped replying. Why didn't I just call? Well, their telephone had been disconnected.
5. I finally contacted a different branch and found out that my contact had left the company without notifying me.
6. I got a new point of contact who told me that the measurements that were taken initially were totally wrong and had to be redone.
With three weeks left before my deadline, I had to start from scratch.
7. I explained the situation and asked if anything could be done to expedite the process given the epic service failure. I was told, in short, that life isn't fair.
Here I am, about a week before the deadline, and PG simply refuses to do anything to meet the reasonable deadline that was set three months prior.
They are a big corporate that just doesn't care about a small client.
