Peugeot Unrighteous Dealings With Customer

My key broke and i lost the key chip fell off, basically lost it. I contacted Peugeot Cape Town and fortunately had one last full key which i bought moreover, they charged me R800 to obtain my key code from France.

Over the weekend i learnt that the key code belongs to me as it is part of the vehicle and should not have had to pay so much.

I then contacted Peugeot Cape Town where the transaction took place. They said they could not refund me. I called another Peugeot branch to get a quote, they quoted me R200 to request key code for me from France.

I left it there and contacted Peugeot South Africa in Gauteng to raise this with them and could not explain to me this vast inconsistency even though dealerships are independently owned that's unrighteous.

e.g. Two independently owned McDonald's outlets can't justify ever charging different prices for same Big Mac at over 50% margin than each other.

So, central customer service at Peugeot could not explain nor assist me and am simply putting this review out there for folks to know that big companies feel at liberty to trample over customer rights like in this case.

I will be taking this further to defend my rights and to get my refund back.
