Peugeot South Africa & Westvaal Peugeot are ******** South African Peugeot owners
Peugeot SA, a sham or a ****? NO TRUST OR FAITH IN PEUGEOT AS A BRAND. They don't deserve this one star nor our South Africans business. Yet in Europe , the service seems so much better, hence our conversion from another brand to Peugeot. Peugeot SA is giving the international brand a bad name and are taking South African owners for a ride. Biggest mistake to buy a Peugeot, as the after sales service is definitely the worst in SA. Despite new management, no one is taking responsibilities for shoddy work, holding our cars hostage, because they have no parts in South Africa and only order as per each repair. They are milking our warranties, by first checking what is available in the plan to spend and then give the customer a price if we are lucky. As per personal experience Peugeot SA and namely Westvaal Peugeot in Somerset has allowed mechanics that are not certified nor experienced on Peugeot vehicles to work on my husband’s car, GTI 308, whereby they have fixed the wrong parts with dire ramifications and costs, because they ignored the initial diagnosis by an independent mechanic.
They have our car since January 7th, 2020 for more than 2 months now and no help from Peugeot head office has been forthcoming. The call center agents are not allowing me to escalate the issue and am left at the mercy of the dealership, whose dealer principle, Juan van De’venter seems AWOL, as he refuses to return any of my calls or see us. My husband is disabled and has Multiple Sclerosis, a crippling auto-immune disease. Peugeot has sent my husband into a relapse due to this stress, that he now has to be treated every second day. We have been left car less and destitute that we had to incur further costs to rent a car just to get him to his treatments. Peugeot has no courtesy vehicles apparently as they are broken down and are also awaiting repairs. Despite numerous calls and complaining Peugeot SA is throwing their arms up in the air and blaming Peugeot in France for lack of parts and the lengthy waiting periods in South Africa. The dealership is a new acquisition / partnership by Peugeot and they are saying that Peugeot SA has made promises to the brand and are not upholding it, hence the work backlog and delays. It is indeed a blame game at Peugeot SA. Up to date we still have not been given the cost of all the unnecessary repairs done. Effective communication from Peugeot in general is nonexistent. We have to chase up as to the progress and still get excuses.
The Workshop manager Robin James refused to acknowledge nor run tests for the ECU. Instead he chose to do other repairs, whose fault codes stemmed from the ECU being damaged. It took him 2 months to diagnose that it was the ECU, after running up repair costs to fix the wrong things and as well fix what the pipe they broke. According to the workshop manager, Robin James. - the battery was not powerful enough to give them a reading, hence, they sold us a new battery. - - thereafter, the “water cooling unit needed fixing as it was not allowing them to get any further to test the ECU” verbatim as per the workshop manager - Thereafter when it was time to pick up our car,(2 months later) despite replacing the cooling unit, at which point I am assuming they would have gone over the pipe as well, they held the car back to say that the pipe to the unit is broken and will take 6 weeks to get the part in. Why are we being billed for this? -I reached out to PGSA head office and after complaining numerous times, the pipe arrived in Cape Town and was fitted in 2 days and was fitted. -when we called to pick up the car last week (25th), Robin James the workshop manager was not available as he left for the day. I again reached out to PGSA, and only the following day, did they inform us that the engine light has come on and it’s the ECU that now has to be replaced. NOTE: 2 months after the it was initially diagnosed as the ECU problem, by our independent mechanic, whom they chose to ignore. -I had no choice but to reach out again to PGSA head office, and all I got given was the run around, and asked to escalate the problem and was not allowed to. The call center agents and receptionist are giving me the run around and continuously puts me on conference call with the dealership that I was complaining about. It has now been a week and still no progress. No one is taking responsibility and are acting as if they are doing me a favor and the dealership is upset that I have attempted to escalate this to the call center, after 2 months and to no avail. I am at my wits end and now angry and in debt, for a car we bought cash, one that has full-service history with Peugeot only, and has an extended warranty.

All I want is for someone to take responsibility and not blame us/punish us, just because we are forced to complain. We are here on social media, because Peugeot SA, marginalized me as a woman and that of color as well and thought I was at their mercy. They ignored me whilst piling up the costs. I gave Peugeot fair warning since my first interaction with the call center agent, more than 3 weeks ago, that I was thinking of taking this to the papers and to social media, should it not be escalated to a manager. No one took me seriously, and unlike Peugeot's brand promise, I keep to my word. I took up this fight because my husband is unable to, due to his relapse and the stress and pain caused by this is unbearable. Should not amiable solution be forthcoming, I am taking this to the papers, to cars.co.za and carte blanche if possible and any other platform that will investigate and expose this ****, inclusive of sending this to Peugeot France. They should know what their brand promise is like in SA. I will take out an advert in every major newspaper if I have to and do leaflets of my complaint and have the post office put it into the free local newspapers like the Tygerburger. I have given you fair warning as I did prior. I trust you know I am now serious. I have sent my car in for the ECU, and not for any other faults that has been incurred because of your incompetence. Clean up your house Peugeot SA, instead of focusing on increasing car sales, and allowing your dealerships to abuse our warranties and our purses with your prices. Your online presence is in shambles, your ratings are poor. Your management operation lacks heart, so forgive me for not using mine in this instance. I don't need placating, I need my car fixed and costs taken care of, that was not of my fault, inclusive of the car hire costs. I am glad to pay for the ECU repairs of which I hear is in the region of 22k . I am hoping its not another 3 months of waiting.
