Peugeot

I'm completely appalled at Peugeot's lack of customer support and their willingness to wash their hands of a low mileage used Peugeot they sold me. We've done 2000km in the car and are now faced with a cracked crankshaft and a collapsed engine bearing. We reported a shaking of the car on start up before purchase and smoking engine to them 1 month after we bought it. Engine mountings were checked and reported to be fine and we were told the shaking was normal. The EGR valve was replaced by Peugeot (claimed on my extended warranty), but this made no difference. Car went back to Peugeot where they did more tests and work to find out the cause of the smoking and then they took the car for a test drive (10km) during which time the engine developed a loud knocking noise (cracked crank and collapsed bearing). Peugeot's comnent - I need to pay for an engine replacement or complete overhaul (about R100k). I strongly advise any potential Peugeot buyers to think very carefulky before signing on the dotted line.
