Marvelous vehicles, terrible dealers
I recently purchased a new Peugeot 2008 GT from Peugeot Westvaal Somerset West.
The vehicle is an absolute joy. However, about a week after taking delivery of the vehicle, after parking it in the sun for the first time (it had been overcast in Cape Town and I work long hours) I noticed that the coated plastic panel covering the i-c o c k p i t screen was deeply scratched. The dealer sent the vehicle for a valet prior to me receiving it - it was presumably scratched during the valet.
I thereafter reported the damage to the dealer, and after they dragged their feet for two weeks they took the vehicle in to resolve the issue.
To my dismay, after the dealer had kept the vehicle for two days, I received it back with even more extensive damage to the plastic panel, and also with 4000km added on the odometer. The vehicle was on 1380km and now shows 5100km. The technicians allegedly attempted to swap the cluster with that of a USED vehicle with over 5000km on the clock not knowing that its mileage will be adopted.
The dealer technicians furthermore also damaged the vehicle’s A-pillar trim in the process, with several permanent scratches now present.
Their proposed solution is to await receipt of a new i-c o c k p i t instrument cluster (which is on back-order and may take two months to arrive), and to reset the vehicle’s odometer with Peugeot’s assistance.
I am utterly unhappy with the buying experience, after sales service, and overall ********* conduct of this dealer and request input from Peugeot South Africa.
I purchased (and payed for) a new vehicle, and received a very much used vehicle instead, mainly due to dealer incompetence.
In all fairness the dealer should now supply me with a new replacement vehicle, and take back the damaged vehicle which they can then sell at their own loss.
