DS5 Engine Light

Hi. I'm the owner of a brown Citroen DS5 2012 THP Sport. I bought the vehicle at Fury Sandton GM on 1st September 2016. The car was in a working condition, no issues whatsoever. In December 2016, an engine light that started coming up sometime in December 2016. I took the car in to the Citroen Vanderbijlpark Dealership because my car was still under the Citroen 100% Warranty. I was told the issue was the petrol pump, which was replaced. I waited over 14 days for the petrol pump, but it arrived and it was fitted. The engine light came on again, during December 2016. I called in to let the dealership know, where I was advised that the engine light might not affect the performance of the car. On the early hours of the 1st January 2017, the car lost power. It literally slowed down from 120KM/H on the N1 Highway, to 0KM/H where it eventually refused to start. I had it towed back to the dealership on the 1st January 2017. This was a holiday, so I had to stay with the car until the 3rd of January 2017 because the car couldn't even lock the doors. They eventually took in the car, and started working on it. I waited almost 3 Months for the car to be returned because I was told that the dealership has ordered a brand new engine for my vehicle, and I was guaranteed that 99% of the car problems will be fixed by the brand new engine. After close to 3 months of waiting, I finally get the vehicle. Not even 10KM of driving, the engine light comes up. I call the dealership to inform them, they assure me that the light will not have an effect on the vehicle, but I just need to check water levels every morning. I accept this and drive off. Not even 2 weeks of having drove the car, it started to overheat again and lost power, again. I have the car towed to the dealership. After about a week of diagnosis, I'm told that the Thermostat Housing needs to be replaced. I wait over a month for the Thermostat Housing to be ordered and delivered. The thermostat housing gets delivered, and I get called to come pick up the car. I arrive to collect it. The car starts up properly, but still has the engine light on, and again, I'm assured that the engine light will not affect performance. I accept this and drive off. About 2 weeks later, the car gives me another warning about the engine oil pressure fault and loses power again. I have the car towed to the dealership again. I wait a good month waiting for the car, Eventually I get it back, still with the engine light. Slightly over 2 weeks, the car does the same thing, it starts to overheat and now when I accelerate, nothing happens now, eventually I dent my car on the side because I couldn't accelerate to avoid a garage corner. I call the dealership to inform them about this. We arrange for the car to get to the dealership, it eventually does. After about close to a week, I'm told that the Thermostat is not opening when the engine is hot. With the fact that the Thermostat Housing was fitted not so long ago. I am now told that the Citroen Warranty has expired on the 4th of June 2017. At this point I'm concerned because there was ample time to fix this issue while the car was under warranty. Anyway, I accept and the dealership submit a claim to my warranty, that didn't pay all the amount, but the dealership agrees to pay the difference because the part is still under warranty. After about 2-3 weeks, I get a call that my car is ready. I arrive, the car starts up, still the engine light comes on, and I'm assured, again, that the engine has no effect on performance. I drive off. Slightly over 3 weeks, the car starts leaking petrol. Took the car to a local mechanic because it was on Saturday night. He notices that the petrol pipes to the engine were not properly clamped and there was a pipe that was forged in there. He clamps the pipe properly and I drive off. Sunday night (the day after), the vehicle leaks petrol again, I push it to get it home. Monday morning I have it towed to the dealership, they replace the petrol pipe, Thursday I got my car. It's no longer leaking petrol, but the engine light persists still. A week later, today, the car leaks petrol again, same petrol pipes leaking petrol and the pipes are not properly clamped. I have called the dealership to tell them this. My concern is that I'm paying a large amount for a car I'm barely driving. This year alone, I haven't driven this car for a sum of 3 Months, not even consecutively. I'm paying about R7000 every month towards this car and insurance, but I barely drive it. Also I strongly believe all these issues would have been solved had the engine light issue been fixed when it first came up because now more an more things are getting ruined. Also the petrol pipe leaks frighten me because they are next to the engine, and petrol is highly flammable. I had also bought a new battery in March from the same dealership, then around June the car was giving issues with starting, and I was told that the battery needed to be charged overnight. I had suggested that I take the car to a different dealership, but Chris advised that I will not get the same warranty he gives me on another dealership. I've been so understanding and tolerating towards this, now I've had enough of this car and this dealership.

Hi, I also spoke to Ronnie from Suzuki Citroen Bryanston, where the car is currently, and he advised me that the fuel feeder pipe that was fitted there, was not the original part and the clamp that was used there, was not the one that's supposed to be used there for Citroen. So this pipe was spraying fuel out, even on top, next to the engine. This would've easily caused the car to catch fire.
