DO NOT USE PETport for any reason! NOt even because they're the cheapest.

Their slogan reads "It's not just business, it's personal". Do not for one second believe this, and do not for one second consider using this company if you wish to have comfort and be at ease that you will receive "expert" service.

Not a single part of this company's way of doing business is personal or expert-like, especially when it comes to communicating. I have had to call NUMEROUS times a day just to ask for a reply to an email, to which 95% of responses were that the consultant was "busy on a call. Can I take a message and ask them to get back to you?" And upon reading the other reviews on this site, it is clear that this is a huge problem, and that nothing is being done about it.

Less than a week before our Golden Retriever's trip from JNB to JFK, our assigned travel consultant fell ill, and was booked off from work. This is normal and completely understandable. What isn't normal and understandable, was that our file was never transferred to another consultant to get in touch and communicate with us about the most stressful part of the entire experience. After unanswered emails and non-returned calls, and with it being only three days before our pet's trip, did I hold a call and basically forced someone to speak to me and not just leave a message. This was the course of business for the next three days, of which a number of calls was eventually made to the emergency number to ensure someone would take the call and not just pass on a message.

Our pet was never collected on the communicated time of between 13h00 - 15h00. No calls or messages of someone running late. I had to make a call to find out what is happening. He was eventually collected at 16h30.

The day of the flight, one of the staff members at the kennel called to ensure everything was okay, asked to send photos of our pet, and then went on to give the wrong date of departure. We also never received the above mentioned photos.

We asked about the process of collecting our pet in New York, to which we were told to call the Animal Reception desk to get more information. You can obviously pay thousands of rands more (its all about the business) for one of their agents to collect your pet, but we my wife eventually figured it out on her own and only paid $92 for our pets release from customs. (Please feel free to contact me, by the way, should you need any details of how and what to do to collect your pet from customs at JFK. I will be more than happy to walk you through the entire process and save you thousands).

Just please make sure to NOT make use of the "services" of PETport to relocate your pet.
