Pet Lounge? Pet Horror is more like it.

I haven't flown my pets in a long time, but since moving to Cape Town I wanted to bring my two yorkies with me for December vacation at Limpopo.

We always fly Kulula and so I called them to ask what steps I need to take.

They sent me to Pet Lounge.

I wanted to ask for an estimate quote so I can determine whether I will be able to afford to take them, or whether I should ask my neighbour to look after them for me.

I called and they told me that quotes can only be given once I requested it via email. I said I don't need a full quote yet, just an estimate for two 2kg yorkies, supp**** with their own crates (with measurements) from Cape Town to O.T Airport.

She said I have to request it on email.

I tried via their website booking page. The mail couldn't go through.

I called her again and she said to try it again. No luck.

I went to their Facebook page and noticed their reviews have been removed. So I already suspected they aren't as great as they claim if they have to hide it.

I Facebook messaged them and finally got a working email link.... only to receive a whole lot of papers I need to fill in just to get an estimate quote.

Including my flight number and time of departure. As well as proof of updated vaccines. And I'd have to drive to the separate courier facility 1km from the airport to collect them.

I called them again and said I don't have a flight number yet, cause I want to determine whether I will be using a different flight company should their prices be excessive. And if I can't fly them, I don't have to take them for any additional vaccines. I just need a ballpark figure. Not the final quote.

She said she can't help me.

I said then they can drop it. I'll find another way of flying my pets. Her snarky response was "Very well Mam. Bye."

I called Mango Airlines, the guy told me to have their vaccine certificates with me on flight day, ensure they can stand in their sturdy couriers for it to be accepted, and that I will be charged R55 per kg. So they weigh both the dog and crate. I can call just before booking my flight to ensure it is a pet friendly flight and take them with me to the airport. On the other side I picked them up with the luggage as well. They were calm and happy. In fact, my youngest one who has never flown preferred napping in her flight crate all the way to our destination. No fear of it. So I will be using Mango from now on thanks.
